PSALM 119:77 This 10 inch diameter brightly colored tambourine shows two young Jewish men dancing with the Torah (the 5 Books of Moses). The art is styled in a Russian-Eastern European Jewish interpretation. The tradition of dancing with the Torah occurs once a year at the end of Sukkot (Festival of Booths Exodus 34:22). Called "Simchat Torah" The Torah is taken out among the congregation and traditionally passed to each man who would like to carry and dance with the Word of God. Some Jewish congregations now give women the honor of carrying the Torah also. Psalm 119:77 says "Let Thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live; for Thy law is my delight."
